Grief in its many forms

Grief is a universal human experience that comes in many forms. This training will explore the multifaceted experience of grief in individuals touched by illness and medical conditions. It will provide clinician’s language, insight, tools and strategies to support their clients through grief.

What you will learn
- Understand the importance of addressing grief in treatment
- Recognize the various losses experienced in individuals touched by illness or medical conditions.
- Define and differentiate the terminology associated with the grieving process, ex. grief, bereavement, mourning, etc.
- Recognize the various types of griefs, ex. anticipatory grief, traumatic grief, etc.
- Gain a basic understanding of grief models
- Understand the clinician’s role in addressing grief
- Gain tools and strategies to work with grief in psychotherapy
- Integrate cultural considerations in the treatment of grief
- Increase awareness of personal biases and values that may impact the psychotherapy process
