Self-compassion Workshop #2: Tender and fierce self-compassion
By Vanessa Tassé
The self-compassion workshops aim to provide an opportunity to practice self-compassion in community. They are inspired by the principles and exercises of the Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) program developed by Kristin Neff and Christopher Germer. They focus on various themes, including: overview of self-compassion; tender and fierce self-compassion; physical, mental, emotional, relational and spiritual self-compassion. The facilitators completed their training with the Center for Mindful Self-Compassion (CMSC).
Description
Research suggests that there are two main types of self-compassion: tender and fierce self-compassion. Tender self-compassion allows us to offer ourselves warmth and tenderness during difficult moments, and fierce self-compassion allows us to protect ourselves and honour our boundaries in line with self-respect. We need these two types of self-compassion in our life. This workshop will explore the concepts of tender and fierce self-compassion and present ways to incorporate them in our life.
Format
Virtual. Please familiarize yourself with the platform used before the workshop.
The workshops contain experiential exercises (e.g.: meditations, written exercises), and opportunities for group discussions. They are designed for self-development and self-growth.
